Tours

The collection of the Museum of Sacred Art of Mallorca is organized according to thematic criteria, based on four itineraries or tours based on the pillars of Christianity:

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ

Jesus is the central figure in Christianity, the Son and incarnation of God. He preaches God's Word and Christians follow His teachings and live their lives as His friends.

In this space, the life, death and resurrection of Jesus are explained through a collection of works with diverse themes and origins. These pieces are testimony to the faith of Mallorcan Christians over the centuries and to this faith's cultural productions.

The Virgin Mary

The Virgin Mary

"Mare de Déu" (Mother of God) is the name used most often in Mallorca to refer to Mary of Nazareth. This name emphasises her importance as the mother of Jesus. She is, at the same time, the mother of all Christians acting as an intercessor and protector before God.

This tour is dedicated to extoling the Virgin Mary and making people aware of her.

The Church

The Church

The Spanish word for church, iglesia, derives from the Latin ecclesia which refers to an assembly or meeting of citizens; in this case, it refers to the community of all believers in Jesus Christ.

Christians express their faith and are involved with the Church through liturgical celebrations. They also experience religion individually through prayer and worship.

The Saints

The Saints

The saints are Christians who stand out for their faith and their way of life focussed on love for others in the name of Jesus. Consequently, they are exemplary people for humankind and for Christians in all eras.

In this space, there is a collection of images of saints that are especially deeply-rooted in Mallorcan tradition and worship.
